BIV Outdoor | Your winter sports experience starts here

We bring the white slopes and the oh-so-beautiful Alps closer to you!

At BIV, we love a bit of adrenaline from time to time. Bart, for instance, has been an avid snowboarder since his younger years and has been hitting the slopes for 25 years now. Besides snowboarding, Bart is also quite a capable skier, covering all the basic facets of winter sports on the slopes. In his younger years, he also played ice hockey at the Heerenveen ice rink. A true cold weather enthusiast, you could say. Anyway, let Bart take you on a journey through this oh-so-beautiful topic, where he will inform you about everything that comes with winter sports. From tips and tricks to personal experiences and reviews of ski resorts, we do it all.

Winter sports in Austria

The most visited winter sports country by the Dutch. And that’s no surprise. At an 8-9 hour drive, the climate and environment change so drastically that you can suddenly go wild at altitudes of 1500-3000 meters on slopes that range from blue for beginners to the craziest black slopes for the more advanced among us. And we haven’t even mentioned the Après-ski in Austria, which is absolutely mega. A truly beautiful country with endless possibilities, which we write extensively about on our website!

Winter sports in France

Then there’s the counterpart to beautiful Austria. A country that, in my opinion, has even more beautiful slopes than Austria. A country where you can eat and drink delightfully but enjoy the Après-ski a bit less. A perfect country to go to for winter sports if you are going with the whole family and the party aspect isn’t that important. Also, a country we will inform you about extensively on our website. Because in our opinion, going to France for winter sports is just as wonderful as going anywhere else.

Relaxing and being active

The best aspect of winter sports, I find, is that you truly relax while being super active all day. Something you really can’t achieve on a summer vacation, if you ask me. There is truly nothing as wonderful as plopping down on the couch in your apartment after a whole day of boarding or skiing, only to go to bed exhausted at 9 PM and then take the first lift up the next day. Going to bed early, sleeping long, and going all out all day!

Winter sports clothing

You guessed it, for winter sports you really need a decent outfit because you’re often outside in much colder temperatures than during a summer vacation. This is, of course, not a problem at all as long as you are well-prepared for your trip. We write on our website about winter sports clothing in the broadest sense of the word. From actual clothing to helmets, gloves, snowboards, skis, and much more!

Ice hockey, cross-country skiing, and more

Besides the classic skiing and snowboarding, there are, of course, many more sports that are part of the broad segment of winter sports. Ice hockey and cross-country skiing, for example, or skating in general. But also traveling by snowmobile or hiking in the Alps are all part of it. There is so much beauty to talk about when it comes to winter sports, which we at BIV Outdoor certainly make sure to cover.

The cold is a beautiful thing

Because of the temperatures, you feel wonderfully cozy in the evenings. And during the day, when you brave them, you get a really great feeling in your body. It’s all meant to be this way, of course, back when we didn’t have central heating and heat pumps. Another aspect that helps you fully relax on a winter sports trip and an aspect that we at BIV greatly appreciate.

Affordable winter sports

And last but not least, the costs of winter sports. It is well known that winter sports are one of the more expensive types of vacations. But this doesn’t have to be the case. For instance, we have gone on a winter sports holiday for 500 euros per person for a week. You just need to know where to book. This is another thing we will help you with from our website.
